Jorge Martínez Cifuentes (1962, Ovalle, Chile) es artista visual que estudio Arquitectura en la Universidad Católica del Norte de la ciudad de Antofagasta, posee títulos de Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas y Profesor de Artes Visuales de la Universidad de La Serena, Chile 1991. Ha participado desde el año 1987 en diversas exposiciones con obras en pintura y cerámica. Él ha tenido múltiples reconocimientos en certámenes regionales y a nivel nacional como ferias y concursos, destacando su trabajo en la primera Cumbre de artesanos de Europa y América latina (España 1998) y en la misión comercial con Pro Chile en la Feria Nueva York Internacional Gift Fair (Estados Unidos, 1999). También ha trabajado como consultor de empresas de artesanías del programa de fomento PROFO y SERCOTEC, como miembro del comité́ regional de evaluación de proyectos del Fondo de Desarrollo de la Cultura y las Artes FONDART, y como docente en la corporación Municipal Gabriel González Videla, en La Serena. Actualmente, vive y trabaja en La Serena, Chile.

El trabajo de Jorge Martínez se desarrolla en tres áreas artísticas: la pintura de gran formato, el dibujo en múltiples formatos y la escultura en pequeño formato. A partir del estudio de las fisonomías humanas, las emociones básicas y sus expresiones, elabora diversas miradas ligadas a la identidad local y expresada en obras de creación pura.

Jorge Martínez Cifuentes (1962, Ovalle, Chile) is a visual artist who studied Architecture at the Northern Catholic University at Antofagasta, Chile. He obtained a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of La Serena, Chile 1991. Since 1987 he has participated in various exhibitions with painting and ceramics. He has achieved multiple awards in regional and national competitions such as fairs and contests; highlighting his work at the first Artisan Summit in Europe and Latin America (Spain 1998) and in the trade mission with Pro Chile at the New York International Gift Fair (United States, 1999). He has also worked as a consultant for handicraft companies in the PROFO and SERCOTEC promotion program, as a member of the regional project evaluation committee of the FONDART Culture and Arts Development Fund of Chile, and as a teacher in the Gabriel González Videla Municipal Corporation, in La Serena. He currently lives and works in La Serena, Chile.

The work of Jorge Martinez is developed in three artistic areas: large format painting, drawing in multiple formats and sculpture in small format. From the study of human physiognomies, the basic emotions and their expressions, elaborates diverse glances linked to the local identity and expressed in works of pure creation.
